I do visit the area Chinese buffets often, and I have a deep appreciation for the primarily Asian and Hispanic workers. Typically, they work six days a week and twelve hours a day for minimal pay. With the crazy low prices on the "all you can eat" policy, it is tough to imagine turning a profit, which directly affects lack of renovations, ect. Look, there's a lot of pretty good food - enough that most people will find plenty of tastes they like. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and hard working. I believe small businesses like this need to be well supported, and just maybe you will see the renovations that so many complain about.

If you are going to waste your money on terrible Asian food in the area (and they are all terrible), do it here. They offer fried frog legs for dinner.

Do not eat here!!! Very dirty and bad food. My wife got a moldy cream puff. Thank goodness she broke it open and did not bite into it. The place is horrible.

For months I was excited to see this new place opening up. I went the first week and it was packed and so I patiently waited for our table. The only perk of this ace is the price. The food was ok at best.

The first couple times my wife and I went to Hibachi grill were great. We had heard great things and bad things. After going a couple more times I finally have a review. The lunch is fantastic, a great bargain, especially if you can manage to drink water. Food is always fresh, hot and plenty to go around! Dinner is a very different story. Most of the dinner food looked as if it was left over from the lunch shift. The wait staff is sketchy at best. For whatever reason they feel the need to rush the check. But overall a good value in a area that lacks variety.

DO NOT eat at the Hibachi Grill in South Bend. I highly recommend the one in Mishawaka. THEY ARE NOT operated by the same owners. The one in Mishawaka has better quality food.

Without a doubt, it's the worst "chinese" buffet in South Bend. The food tasted bad, you could taste the smell of the place in the food. The ladies restroom was disgusting, and had moth balls in it and also noticed moth balls right by the kitchen. I will never go back. - I say this because all the items I had were terrible. If a couple were a bad, and a few good- I'd go back, but this is was not the case. This place gets 0 stars.

Yes, I am actually reviewing a chinese buffet. Weird, I know.... considering I don't fall into the let's-write-reviews-on-McDonalds/Starbucks subtype. But I wanted to inform my fellow Michiana brethren of this new staple of gluttony in South Bend. Yes, there is all the standard chinese-americanized buffet items. You can find your fried chicken slathered in sweet and sour sauce, broccoli, fried rice, noodles, wontons, rolls, etc. There is also an entire section of what I deem "kids food", e.g. french fries, mozz sticks, pizza, chicken fingers. Skip the generic yellow noodles and try the thin vermicelli instead. But what impressed me was the amount of seafood available on the buffet. Crayfish, shrimp cocktail, whole flounder fillets, large salmon fillets, seaweed salad, sushi bar. Yes, some of the sushi rolls are not the greatest, but just the seaweed and ginger slices are so expensive, I am curious how they make a profit for $5.99 a head. As you make your way around the sushi bar, you'll see the mongolian bbq, which seems to take a backseat to everything else, despite the name of the restaurant. I passed on the hibachi grill and went straight for the braised fish. Between the three of us, our family had 2 whole flounder fillets. That alone at a supermarket's got to run 10 bucks. I don't understand how this place makes money. Also, if your stomach isn't bursting yet, they actually have a nice fruit and dessert selection. For reference, 3 stars is pretty much the most stars any buffet can get. So, for $5.99 its probably the best buffet deal you can find in the city. That means you should put down that $6 big mac meal and try some seafood / salad / fruit for a change. .....however, on my way out, my dad did mention there was a $4.99 chinese buffet on the other side of town. UH oh. Food (4/10) - bonus points for sheer variety. Service (3/5) Decor (3.5/5) - new interior and hey my clothes don't smell like grease! Value (5/5)

Never again! Food on steam tables was cold. Ordered a diet soda and the mix was way off so it was undrinkable. The place used to be busy but no more. No wonder, it seems that the owners don't care what they serve any more.

Granted I know that buffets are notorious for being dirty with sub par food, but this place gives me nightmares. When I went to Hibachi in 2011, I fell ill and had to have my appendix removed. There isn't a lot of research proving it, but food bacteria can cause the inflammation in an appendix that requires it to be removed. The same week I got sick, they were cited for raw meats sitting open in the fridges and dripping on bags of rice. Be careful and avoid the sushi!

As I believe it is wise to pre-judge the quality of a buffet by the number of obese people in attendance, a quick survey as I walked into Hibachi Grill was cause for major excitement. And the place delivered exactly what it ought have -- pure, raw-assed glutinous and glutamaic gluttony. Whatever chemical they sprinkle on this food is outstanding. The price of the food should set off some red flags, of course... be careful.

Went here today as we were starving and decided to try some place new, which apparently we noticed this nice little restaurant. But little did we know that this nice little restaurant turned out to be a dreaded little restaurant...we had ordered some food and then we got our order. Upon diving into our meals, luckily I caught a strand of hair, and believe me, it was definitely not hair from your scalp...I complained and the waitress apologized and brought me a new meal. This time, feeling more assured, I started to eat, but half way through the meal I found another strand of hair in the middle...I complained to the manager and the manager just gave such an attitude about my complaints and got me really furious and I just left without paying. This place just isn't sanitary and definitely will not come again and report right away. The management is horrible as well. DO NOT COME.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
